2010 Volnay "Clos de la Chapelle" (Monopole): The Clos de la Chapelle, adjacent to the Clos de la Bousse d'Or in Volnay, is stunning in its 2010 vintage. It presents a deep, classy nose of cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, vine-smoke, fresh herbs, a beautiful soil base, a hint of fresh nutmeg, and well-framed vanillin oak. The palate is deep, pure, and full-bodied with transparency, bright, tangy acids, a sappy fruit core, superb focus and balance, and a very long, soil-driven, refined finish with outstanding complexity. This inaugural vintage for the domaine's flagship wine promises to be one of the top premier crus in the commune in the coming years. A must-try wine. Score: 94 points. Drinking window: 2020-2060.

2010 Volnay "Carelle Sous la Chapelle": The 2010 Carelle Sous la Chapelle from Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is excellent, featuring a pretty and soil-driven nose of cherries, pomegranate, woodsmoke, fresh herbs, cedary wood, and a complex base of soil tones. The palate is deep, medium-full, and intensely flavored, displaying purity, brightness, a sappy fruit core, moderate tannins, and outstanding length and grip on the transparent and still quite primary finish. The intensity of flavor without undue weight makes it a classic Volnay. Score: 92 points. Drinking window: 2020-2050+.

2010 Pommard "Chanlins" Vieilles Vignes: The 2010 vintage showcases the excellence of the eighty-plus-year-old vines in Chanlins, producing a deep and lovely bouquet of red plums, cherries, woodsmoke, fresh herbs, a fine soil base, and a touch of cedary oak. The palate is deep, full-bodied, pure, and youthful, with a fine fruit core, beautiful transparency, tangy acids, and outstanding focus and grip on the very long, firm, and ripely tannic finish. This classic 2010 Pommard marries the vintage's elegance with the structured style of a young Pommard, making it a reference point example of Chanlins. Score: 93 points. Drinking window: 2020-2060.
